Overview
Canny Ideas has two field types for scoring and aggregation: Score fields for prioritization and Formula fields for surfacing customer signal as a metric on each idea.
Canny Ideas is available on Free, Core, Pro, and Business plans. Teams on legacy plans (Starter or Growth) will need to move to new plans to access Ideas.
Score fields
Score fields are RICE-style composites. You define which fields contribute as impact factors and which as cost factors, weight each, and the score is calculated as sum of weighted impact ÷ sum of weighted cost per idea.
Use Score for prioritization that balances impact against effort.
Formula fields
Formula fields aggregate a single factor across a user segment using sum, count, average, max, or min. Factors include Insight Count (and the User Insight Count / Company Insight Count variants), MRR, Votes, Opportunity Value, or any custom field.
Use Formula to surface a single metric on each idea — for example, "Sum of MRR across Enterprise" — as a column on your ideas table.
Things to note
A set of default Formula fields is pre-created on new workspaces — including MRR, Insight Count, User Insight Count, Company Insight Count, Votes, and Opportunity Value. These can be added as columns or used as inputs to a Score field.
Score fields are not set up by default — create them under Fields on the Ideas dashboard.
Both field types can reference system values (Insight Count, User Insight Count, Company Insight Count, MRR, Votes, Opportunity Value) plus any custom fields you've added.
