Overview
MRR and ARR data surfaces on ideas through their linked insights. When a company that has a revenue value in Canny contributes an insight (via Autopilot or manual entry), that revenue figure is visible in the idea's Impact Overview.
Canny Ideas is available on Free, Core, Pro, and Business plans. Teams on legacy plans (Starter or Growth) will need to move to new plans to access Ideas.
How revenue data surfaces on ideas
When an insight is added from a company that has revenue data in Canny, that value is attached to the insight and aggregated in the Impact Overview.
Impact Overview: revenue in context
The Impact Overview panel on each idea aggregates revenue across all contributing companies. It shows:
Total MRR or ARR represented by companies with insights on the idea
Individual company breakdown with revenue values and insight priority
The label shown (MRR or ARR) reflects the revenue timeframe configured for your Canny workspace.
This lets you prioritize ideas not just by insight count, but by the revenue weight behind them.
Closing the loop with Export List
Once a feature ships, use the Export List button at the bottom of the Companies tab to download a CSV of every company behind the idea. The export includes:
Company name and Company ID
Annual spend
Insight priority (Nice to have, Important, Must have)
Source
Date added
Sales and Customer Success teams can use this list to reach out to interested customers when the feature ships — closing the feedback loop with the exact accounts that asked for it. The Users tab has the same Export List option for reaching out to individual users.
Getting revenue data into Canny
The easiest way to track revenue on ideas is to connect Salesforce or HubSpot — these CRM integrations sync company revenue values automatically as deals close and renewals update in your CRM, with no extra setup needed to keep values fresh.
Revenue data can also be passed in through:
Canny SDK — values are updated when a logged-in user visits a page where the SDK is installed and identifies the company. Requires user activity to refresh.
Canny API — values are updated when you push them via the API. Requires your own integration code or a scheduled job to keep values current.
Intercom, Zendesk, or Segment — these integrations can pass company spend depending on the field mapping you configure.
For most teams, Salesforce or HubSpot delivers the most accurate and least maintenance-heavy revenue tracking.
Things to note
Revenue values reflect the last synced figure — they update on each source's sync schedule.
If an idea has no insights from companies with revenue data, no revenue data will appear in the Impact Overview.
Revenue figures are visible to admins only.
