Overview

Like any SaaS service, Canny collects data points for users of our platform. You can view our full privacy policy at the button below:

If you'd like to put in place a DPA (data processing agreement), please start a chat or email us at support@canny.io.

Admins vs End-users

There are two main user types in Canny:

  • Admin: Anybody who is listed on the Admins page in your Canny settings and therefore has access to the admin tools in Canny. Typically, employees at your company.

    • This includes teammates who have Product Manager and Contributor designations in your admin roles.

  • End user: Anybody who gives feedback through Canny. Typically, your customers or other employees who do not need to manage or respond to feedback.

Admins

Canny automatically collects the following information on Canny admins:

  • Full name

  • Email address

  • Profile picture

  • IP address

  • Operating system

  • Browser (Type, Version)

End users

Canny automatically collects the following information on end-users:

  • Full name

  • Email address

  • Profile picture

  • IP address

Other data that you might proactively share with Canny about your users (optional):

  • Date they signed up for your service

  • The company they work for

  • How much they pay you on a monthly basis

  • Their user ID in your system

  • Any other custom data that your team chooses to share with us via custom fields or through integrations.

Cookies and Data Privacy

You can enable a cookie consent banner directly in your Portal settings by navigating to: Settings β†’ Portal β†’ General β†’ Data privacy

When enabled, Canny will not load non-essential third-party scripts or cookies (such as Google Analytics) on your portal by default.

The banner will be displayed to all portal visitors, and third-party content will only load once a visitor explicitly clicks Accept. This gives you an additional layer of control over what data is collected from your end-users on the portal.
