Overview

You can toggle between internal (idea) and portal (post) views of an idea from the admin interface. Use the portal view to modify what end-users see.

Benefits

  • Quickly see how an idea appears to end-users in the portal

  • Publish or unpublish ideas from the portal view

  • Filter which post details are visible to end-users

Toggling between portal and internal view

For ideas visible on the portal, you’ll see a button labeled portal view when viewing an idea:

Simply click that to see the information that is visible to end-users (who have access to that board):

You will also notice the post details that are publicly visible on the right-hand side. Including a link, the status, the category, and any ETA:

Creating a post from an idea

If the idea isn’t available on the portal, you’ll see a button to create a post instead:

Deleting an idea from the portal view

If you no longer want an idea to appear in the portal, you can simply delete the post. Go into the portal view and you’ll see an option to delete the post in the right-hand panel:

Deleting the post only removes it from the portal. The idea remains in Canny, but any insights from post comments will be deleted.

Things to note:

  • Deleting an idea will also delete the portal view

  • Owner or Manager-level admin role permissions are required to delete a post
