Overview
Tags are only visible to Canny admins.
A post can have more than one tag at a time
Categories are visible to end-users.
A category can be selected when a user is creating a post.
A post can only have one category applied.
Every Canny board can have its own tags and categories available. These are managed in the Boards tab in your Canny settings.
Tags
Any post can be tagged by a Canny admin. Tags are meant to help your team categorize and prioritize feedback behind the scenes.
Users will not see your tags, so feel free to apply them candidly. You will also be able to filter posts by tags in Canny.
Categories
Categories are usually used for a particular section/feature in your app. They can sometimes help determine the team that will be addressing the post.
Categories also allow you, as a Canny admin, to subscribe to relevant notifications.
Remember that both tags and categories are visible to all admins in your Canny account.
