Overview
Canny offers 4 different billing plans:
This article answers each plan's FAQs and explains in detail the features and restrictions of each option.
All plans:
There is no option to pay for a single function if the plan doesn't include it. The only exception to this is the Business plan, which is custom-priced and includes optional add-ons.
For example, the Starter plan has no option to add just the private boards feature. That feature is only available on the Growth plan.
The Google Analytics integration does not count toward integration limits.
Canny offers discounts for the following:
Early-stage startup companies (applies only to the Growth plan)

The Free plan
Canny's Free offering is ideal for smaller teams and solo projects.
Things to know about the Free plan:
The Free plan allows for a maximum of 100 active posts.
Active posts are defined as posts in any status that is NOT Closed or Complete.
Users can still vote and comment once the 100-post maximum has been hit, but new posts can only be created once active posts are moved to a Closed or Complete status.
The Free plan is the only plan where the number of posts is limited.
A maximum of three people can be invited to manage feedback as Canny admins.
Only one integration is included in the Free plan.
Google Analytics is NOT counted as an integration. Most people regard it as such a basic utility that we don't count it toward the integration limit in Canny. If you're on the Free plan, you're welcome to connect one of the other available integrations in addition to Google Analytics.
Admin roles are NOT included on the Free plan. Every person on the team would have full Owner-level permissions.
There is no cap on the number of end-users who can post, vote, or comment.
The Free plan includes the end-user roadmap but NOT the roadmap/prioritization tool.
Custom domains are NOT included on the Free plan. This means your Canny board will only be accessible via your Canny portal (subdomain.canny.io) or the Canny widget if you prefer to embed Canny.
You can view/edit your subdomain from the General settings page in Canny.
Canny support is included at the free level. If you start a chat or email support@canny.io, you will receive a reply from a live human (if the Canny bot cannot handle it) just like accounts on paid plans.
This is just a heads-up that paid plans receive priority from our support team, so replies may not be as fast.
The free plan has no time limit, so you can stay on it for as long as you like.
Unlocking the Free plan
If you are starting on the Free plan, Canny requires you to take a few steps to "unlock" the Free plan.
Why do I have to unlock the Free plan?
Offering a free product is, sadly, a magnet for spammers. We require a few steps to use the Free plan in Canny. It prevents spammers from leveraging Canny, overwhelming our resources, and corrupting the quality of Canny's data for search engines (and more broadly). We also want to make sure that the people using our Free plan are in a position to use Canny effectively.

The Starter plan
The Starter plan is the most affordable paid plan. Things to know about the Starter plan:
Admin roles are NOT included on the Starter plan. Every person on the team would have full Owner-level permissions.
The Starter plan includes three admin seats, but additional seats can be added for an extra charge—each seat after the first three is billed separately.
On all paid plans, charges are prorated, so you only pay for the time a seat is enabled.
If an admin is added partway through the billing cycle, the remaining amount is charged immediately. Subsequent charges will be consolidated to the date of your billing cycle.
The Starter plan includes a single roadmap in the roadmap/prioritization tool to help with prioritization.
A maximum of 2 integrations are included in the Starter plan.
Google Analytics is NOT counted as an integration. Most people regard Google Analytics as such an essential utility that we don't count it toward the integration limit in Canny.
The Starter plan includes both annual and month-to-month options:
The month-to-month pricing for the Starter plan is $99/mo for 3 admin seats (each additional seat is $20/mo). That works out to a total of $1,188/year plus $240/year per additional seat.
The annual pricing is $948/year for 3 admin seats, plus $216/year per additional seat. So, at a minimum, you save $240/year by going annual.
The Growth plan
The Growth plan is Canny's most popular paid offering. Things to know about the Growth plan:
Unlike Free and Starter, the Growth plan includes admin roles.
Every Canny admin must be assigned a role.
The admin role options are:
Owner
Manager
Contributor*
*Contributors do not count toward the 5-seat admin allotment on the Growth plan.
Only the total number of Owner/Manager-level seats provisioned is counted toward the 5-seat allotment. The configuration of Owner/Manager admin seats is irrelevant. What matters is the total number of Owner/Manager seats provisioned.
3 Owners + 2 Managers + ∞ Contributors = 5 seats
1 Owners + 4 Managers + ∞ Contributors = 5 seats, etc.
The Growth plan includes both annual and month-to-month options:
The month-to-month pricing for the Growth plan is $399/mo for 5 Owner/Manager admin seats (each additional seat is $40/mo). That works out to a total of $4788/year plus $480/year per additional seat.
The annual pricing is $4,308/year for 5 Owner/Manager admin seats, plus $432/year per additional seat. So, at a minimum, you save $480/year by going annual.
The Business plan
The Business plan is Canny's custom tier that includes several enterprise-level functions and integrations. Things to know about the Business plan:
The Business plan offers optional add-on features and integrations like removing the "Powered by Canny" branding or Salesforce.
The Business plan is the only plan that offers payment by invoice and bank transfer. Other paid plans require a credit card for payments.
There is no option to enable the Business plan within Canny. You would have to reach out via chat or email sales@canny.io to get a Business plan in place.
