Canny's Billing Plans

A more in-depth look at Canny's plan offerings

Overview

Canny offers 4 different billing plans:

  • Free

  • Core

  • Pro

  • Business

This article answers each plan's FAQs and explains in detail the features and restrictions of each option.

All plans:

  • Canny pricing is largely based on tracked users. A tracked user is anyone with a post, vote, or comment attributed to them. Learn more about tracked users

  • As of May 9th, 2025, Autopilot credits are no longer capped on Canny's new Free, Core, and Pro plans. Limits are still in effect for legacy plans (Starter and Growth).

  • There is no option to pay for a single function if the plan doesn't include it. The only exception to this is the Business plan, which is custom-priced and includes optional add-ons.

    • For example, the Core plan has no option to add just the anonymous boards feature. That feature is only available on the Pro plan.

  • All plans offer unlimited posts, boards, and admin seats with the Contributor admin role.

  • Every plan includes a public roadmap and a changelog.

  • Canny offers discounts for non-profit charities.

The Free plan

Canny's Free offering is ideal for smaller teams and solo projects.

Things to know about the Free plan:

  • The Free plan allows for feedback from a maximum of 25 tracked users.

  • A maximum of 5 people can be invited to manage feedback as Canny admins on the Free plan.

  • Only Feedback and Notification integrations can be connected on the Free plan

  • Admin roles are included in the Free plan.

  • Changelog emails are not sent on the Free plan. A paid plan is required to have Canny send out emails to subscribers when a new changelog entry is published.

  • Custom domains are NOT included on the Free plan. This means your Canny board will only be accessible via your Canny portal (subdomain.canny.io) or the Canny widget if you prefer to embed Canny.

  • Canny support is included at the free level. If you start a chat or email support@canny.io, you will receive a reply from a live human (if the Canny bot cannot handle it) just like accounts on paid plans.

    • Paid plans receive priority from our support team.

  • The free plan has no time limit, so you can stay on it for as long as you like.

Unlocking the Free plan

If you are starting on the Free plan, Canny requires you to take a few steps to "unlock" the Free plan.

Why do I have to unlock the Free plan?

Offering a free product is, sadly, a magnet for spammers. We require a few steps to use the Free plan in Canny. It prevents spammers from leveraging Canny, overwhelming our resources, and corrupting the quality of Canny's data for search engines (and more broadly). We also want to make sure that the people using our Free plan are in a position to use Canny effectively.

The Core plan

The Core plan is the most affordable paid plan. Things to know about the Core plan:

  • All features of the Free plan are also included in the Core plan.

  • The Core plan includes 5 Owner/Manager admin seats as well as unlimited Contributor seats.

  • Only 1 internal roadmap is included on the Core plan.

  • Feedback and Notification integrations can be connected on the Core plan, along with Canny’s Segment.com integration.

  • The Core plan includes both annual and month-to-month options:

    • The month-to-month pricing for the Core plan is $24/mo for up to 100 tracked users. That works out to a total of $288/yr.

    • The annual pricing is $228/yr for 100 tracked users. So, at a minimum, you save $60/year by going annual.


The Pro plan

The Pro plan is Canny's most popular paid offering. Things to know about the Pro plan:

  • All features of the Core plan are also included in the Pro plan.

  • Unlike Free and Core, the Pro plan includes 10 Owner/Manager admin seats, as well as custom roles and unlimited Contributor seats.

  • The Pro plan includes Feedback, Notifications, and Project management integrations, as well as tools like Zapier and Segment.

  • The Core plan includes both annual and month-to-month options:

    • The month-to-month pricing for the Core plan is $99/mo for up to 100 tracked users. That works out to a total of $1,188/yr.

    • The annual pricing is $948/yr for 100 tracked users. So, at a minimum, you save $240/year by going annual.


The Business plan

The Business plan is Canny's custom tier that includes several enterprise-level functions and integrations. Things to know about the Business plan:

  • All features of the Pro plan are included in the Business plan

  • The Business plan offers optional add-on features and integrations like removing the "Powered by Canny" branding or Salesforce.

  • The Business plan is the only plan that offers payment by invoice and bank transfer. Other paid plans require a credit card for payments.

  • There is no option to enable the Business plan within Canny. You would have to reach out via chat or email sales@canny.io to get a Business plan in place.
